Using Trekosa
Trekosa helps dog owners discover and share walking routes. It is run by Trekosa Limited, company number 17446018, registered in England and Wales. By creating an account you agree to use it lawfully and to keep your login details secure. You need to be 18 or over to create an account.
What it costs
Trekosa is free. Further is an optional subscription that adds help on the walk itself and walks across Great Britain. The first 250 households to walk a route and report it in the app are founding households: Further is free for them for as long as they keep their account and we offer Further, with nothing to keep up, and no later change to these terms takes it away. A founding place attaches to the account that took it and covers that household the way a subscription would; it ends only if that account is closed. A note about a walk you have not walked does not take a place. The app tells you the moment your report takes one. Households who took a founding place before 11 October 2026, when a place came with setting up an account, keep it on the same footing. Whatever you decide, what you have contributed stays yours to download or delete.
Further
Further is a monthly or yearly subscription, bought in the Trekosa app through Google Play or the App Store. The store takes the payment and shows you the price before you buy. It renews automatically until you cancel, which you can do at any time in your Google Play or App Store subscriptions, and you keep Further until the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds are handled by the store, under its own policy.
One subscription covers your household, and it stays with the Trekosa account that bought it. If the price changes, the store tells you first and you can cancel before it applies. None of this affects your rights as a consumer.
Referring a friend
If you refer a friend, or join on somebody's code, the referral terms apply as well.
No safety guarantee
Trekosa shows what walkers report and information derived from public data. It never confirms that a route is safe. Conditions change constantly: livestock, other dogs, weather, terrain and access can all differ from what's shown. You are responsible for your own and your dog's safety and for assessing any route yourself before and during a walk. When you follow a walk, the buzz if you seem to leave the path, the buzz before a turn and the way back are aids, and they can be wrong: positioning, signal and battery all have limits, so keep your eyes on the ground and on your dog. Always follow the Countryside Code.
Talking instead of tapping
At sign-up you can answer out loud. Your phone asks for the microphone the first time, and you can refuse and still finish every question by tapping or typing. Nothing is recorded: the sound becomes text as you speak, and you confirm the text before anything is kept. The Privacy Policy names the services involved.
Taking part in research
We sometimes ask owners for an interview, a short walk diary or a survey, to decide what the app should ask. Taking part is voluntary, you can stop at any point, and saying no changes nothing about your account or what you are shown. We keep those answers without your name and delete them after six months.
Your contributions
When you map a route or post a report, you allow Trekosa and its community to use that contribution within the app. Keep contributions honest and don't post anything you don't have the right to share. Reports reflect a moment in time and are not promises about future conditions.
When you save a walk you drew, we offer a copy of it to other households by default. Your own walk stays private and is never published: the copy has both ends trimmed so it does not begin where yours does. You can turn this off as you save, or at any time afterwards, and the Privacy Policy explains exactly what the copy shows.
Accounts & deletion
To delete your account, open Settings in the app and choose Delete my account, or email privacy@trekosa.com and a person will do it within one month. Your personal details are removed; contributions are retained with your name taken off them, so the shared map stays useful to everyone else. We can close an account that posts dishonest reports or misuses the app, and we will tell you why.
This is a beta
Trekosa is early. Features change, areas open and close as we get them properly ready, and we cannot promise the app is always available. We are in every county in England, all of Wales and all of Scotland. Outside them we will tell you we are not there yet rather than guess.
Liability
Trekosa is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for loss or injury arising from use of the app or reliance on information within it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away any right you have as a consumer.
Changes and the law that applies
When we change these terms we update the date at the top, and for anything that matters we tell you in the app first. They are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute.
