Dogs on the beach
Can I take my dog on Bridlington beach today?
The ban on part of North Beach and South Beach runs 1 May to 30 September, so today, Tuesday 13 October, it is not in force. It starts again on 1 May 2027.
From East Riding of Yorkshire Council's dog control Public Spaces Protection Orders, which we read on 1 October 2026. Signs on the beach say where each stretch starts and ends.

The year at Bridlington
From 1 May to 30 September (153 days) dogs are banned from North Beach and South Beach, all day.
For the other 212 days of the year no ban holds on those stretches.
- Along the coast, Hornsea: No ban today; the summer ban starts again on 1 May 2027.
The order
Dog control Public Spaces Protection Orders, made by East Riding of Yorkshire Council. In force from 1 September 2026; its end date is not published. We read it on 1 October 2026.
Breaking it can mean a fixed penalty of £75, says the council's dog control page. The council's leaflet says the orders do not apply to a person who is registered blind, or who relies on an assistance dog trained by a prescribed charity.

- Where we quote it from: the council's dog control leaflet (2016, PDF); the council confirmed the same four beaches under the orders re-made in 2026 (FOI5583, 17 September 2026), whose own texts are not published online.
Other beaches along this coast are on the East Riding of Yorkshire beaches page.
