Dogs on the beach
Can I take my dog on Herne Bay beach today?
The ban on part of Herne Bay beach runs 1 May to 30 September, so today, Tuesday 13 October, it is not in force. It starts again on 1 May 2027. Dogs must be on a lead all year on the promenade, Neptune Jetty to the pier.
From Canterbury City Council's Public Spaces Protection Order (Control of Dogs) 2024, which we read on 1 October 2026. Signs on the beach say where each stretch starts and ends.
