Dogs on the beach

Can I take my dog on Sidmouth beach today?

The ban on part of Sidmouth beach runs 1 May to 30 September, so today, Tuesday 13 October, it is not in force. It starts again on 1 May 2027. Dogs must be on a lead all year on Jacob’s Ladder and the esplanade to The Ham and on the Esplanade.

From East Devon District Council's Controls on Seashores and Promenades Public Spaces Protection Order 2026, which we read on 1 October 2026. Signs on the beach say where each stretch starts and ends.
