Paul McManus
Founder of Trekosa
Paul started Trekosa. He and his wife have three dogs, all very different from one another: Scout and Dylan, both Australian Shepherds, and Mitch, a Border Collie. She likes to walk a route herself before she takes them on it; he would rather find a new one, and needs to know what it is like before he sets off.
He signs the notes about living with a dog on a walk, where it helps to know it is somebody's own experience. The notes about the law and about how we check a walk are written as the company. More about Trekosa.
Notes by Paul
- Walking a reactive dog: the first step out of the doorWhat owners of reactive dogs say they need from a walk, in their own words, what the app asks and checks before it suggests one, and what it cannot know.
- Dogs near sheep and cattle: the law when you are walking a dogWhat the law says about dogs near sheep and cattle in England, Wales and Scotland, what changed in March 2026, and how the app knows a field is grazed.
- Busy roads on a dog walk: what the traffic counts sayHow the app tells a busy road from a quiet lane: the Department for Transport's counts, the speed limit the law assumes, and the pavement nobody recorded.
- Dog walks without stiles: why they are hard to find, and how we find themNo ordinary map records a stile. Here is the one public source that does, what Trekosa counts from it, and what it still cannot see.
